Pencils are graded based on the softness or hardness of their graphite.

These are the pencils I use the most!

  • 9B: Extremely soft and very dark. Ideal for shading and creating deep blacks. The lead can smudge easily and wear down quickly.

  • 7B: Very soft and dark. Excellent for bold, expressive lines and shading, but not as intense as 9B.

  • 5B: Soft and dark. Offers good coverage for shading and sketching.

  • 3B: Moderately soft and dark. A good balance for shading and drawing with more control.

  • HB: Middle-of-the-road hardness. It’s neither too hard nor too soft, making it versatile for writing and drawing. Produces a medium line density.

  • 2H: Harder than HB. Creates lighter, finer lines. Ideal for technical drawing and when precision is needed.
